The sudarium has been in the possession of the Capuchins since 1638.

Blandina Paschalis Schlömer.
The Trappist nun Blandina Paschalis Schlömer used a superimposition technique to show that the images on the veil of Veronica of Manopello and the shroud of Turin were of the same person. She later applied this technique to the sudarium of Oviedo with the same result. Sister Blandina has lived as a hermit in Manoppello since 2003.

The Servants of the Holy Blood.
The Servants of the Holy Blood belong to a Catholic community which does missionary work under the aegis of the blood of Christ. Since 2010 they have dedicated themselves to caring for pilgrims in Manoppello and work with children and adolescents in the parish of St. Nicholas.

Petra-Maria Steiner.
Sister Petra-Maria lives in Manoppello on assignment from her community “Vita Communis – Mary, Mother of the Holy Family”. She guides German-speaking pilgrims through the Basilica of the Holy Face. Particularly in the winter months she holds presentations on the sudarium for interested communities using modern technology.
